Spring Break is finally here

Hey friends,
โ€‹
Welcome to todays newsletter! This is my first post in a coupe months. Our spring semester is keeping us much more busier than our fall semester. However, today I finally had the time to sit down and write this post. I decided to talk about what I've been up to since my last post.

We kicked off the semester in mid January with a quiz and its been nonstop weekly quizzes after that ๐Ÿ˜… Towards the end of January, our class had a meeting with the recruitment department of UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center). UPMC is recognized as a national health enterprise and one of the nation's largest integrated health care delivery serving areas such as acute care hospitals, varies specialties and urgent care centers. We had directors from each department welcome our class and show us insights on what their organization offers. From the looks of things there seems to be a massive shortage of anesthesia providers in each of their locations and are reaching out to us for possible employment opportunities after we graduate. Although I like to keep my options open it is reassuring to know that this organization will be helping us train during our clinical years, something that I am looking forward to.

During February I flew out to Orlando, Florida for this years ADCE conference hosted by the AANA. What is the AANA? The AANA (American Association of Nurse Anesthesia) is nation's professional CRNA association, the AANA supports, advances, and protects the nurse anesthesiology profession. They host annul conferences such as the Assembly of Didactic and Clinical Educators (ADCE), This event is the premier educator-to-educator event for nurse anesthetists, keeping member's up to date on current anesthesia topics, advances, research and any developing issues within the CRNA community. I got the chance to network with varies CRNA's and directors. They all provided valuable insights on ideas they are enthused about. In fact, a handful of my classmates want to go to next years event which will be hosted in Tucson, Arizona.

Then that brings us to March. We took care of midterms and after that I decided to head back to NY to see family and friends. This week is an interesting week because I get to go to war with the IRS. Filing Taxes is always a pain but for the past few months I decided to educate myself on tax strategies, finding ways to mitigate capital gain taxes.

We are two months away from the biggest and longest marathon I have ever participated in and I'm eager to compete in an event such as the Pittsburgh Marathon. The Pittsburgh Marathon is a prestigious race that covers a 26 mile course through the heart of Pittsburgh. This iconic event attracts thousands of runners who traverse the city's streets, bridges, and hills. Since this is my first time running this type of marathon, I've been preparing by running 3 miles within 25 minutes every day. Very very excited about this one ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ

A Moment of Self-Reflection Finally, the fall semester has come to an end. The papers/assignments/tests are over for now. Oftentimes during the end semester the world seems to be moving too fast. As I am driving back to NY to spend the holidays with the family, I recall and reflect on the significant events that have shaped my current position. One year ago today, I was a travel nurse at Melrose, MA, putting in 4-5 days a week in the ICU. I remember it was around this time today that I...
