A Moment of Self-Reflection

A Moment of Self-Reflection

Finally, the fall semester has come to an end. The papers/assignments/tests are over for now. Oftentimes during the end semester the world seems to be moving too fast. As I am driving back to NY to spend the holidays with the family, I recall and reflect on the significant events that have shaped my current position.

One year ago today, I was a travel nurse at Melrose, MA, putting in 4-5 days a week in the ICU. I remember it was around this time today that I received my second rejection letter from my top schools. Fast forward 12 months later and the first semester of CRNA school is over.

It’s amazing how life can change in one year.

We live in a fast paced world. We often find ourselves caught in a whirlwind of activities. Constantly overwhelmed by external stimuli. The demands and pressure can leave us feeling disconnected from our inner selves, our values, our principles. It is precisely in these moments that we can tap in and communicate with our subconscious.

How do I Self-Reflect ?

1. Self Assessment 🫵🏻

Take a step back and visualize past events, play back impactful moments.

Recall feedback or input received from others.

2. Ask Yourself ??

What do I want? Not what others want
What am I avoiding?
What am I grateful for?
What are my unique gifts, skills, talents?
What weaknesses or blindspots do I need to watch out for?

3. Implement 🌟

Build an action plan

Explore the tension of embracing progress or maintaining a stable, unchanging foundation.

👉🏻 It’s important to note that without self reflection we might embark on a new journey blindly, creating more unintended consequences. However, by embracing both the shadows and the light, anyone can eagerly anticipate the upcoming chapters filled with curiosity and ongoing learning.

That's all for today...
